We are delighted to be the official IT partner for Young Enterprise Scotland (YES), not only because we love to welcome new clients, but because this one is particularly close to our hearts.
YES are a charity who inspire young people to learn and succeed through enterprise. They seek to do this while embodying their values of collaboration, creativity, enthusiasm and integrity.
They have been working with students to enhance their enterprise skills and creativity for over 40 years. Since then, the number of young people they have inspired has grown dramatically and as of 2015 the total stands at over 10,000 students annually throughout Scotland.
Now if you know pcr as a company, you will probably already know that our very own Managing Director Nick was a very young entrepreneur and a successful one at that! His achievements have been recognised by business chambers, council authorities and nationwide award panels, including Renfrewshire Chamber of Commerce in 2012 when he won Young Business Person of the Year.
Nick attributes a lot of his success to the support given to him by YES and now his company are ‘paying it forward’ by managing the IT for the charity that inspired him when he was younger.
At the age of 13 Nick established his first business, PC Repair, from his bedroom at home. This then lead to opening two repair centres, eventually as the company expanded with the market, pcr moved to focus solely on providing B2B IT support.
Now at the age of 24 Nick leads a company of 12 staff (us!) and has plans for more this year.
Nick states, “The inspiration that YES gave me whilst at school has proven to be invaluable throughout my career so far. It’s an honour to be working with the young generation of today. To also be called upon in a business capacity – as their official IT provider – is a privilege and a great testament of the work YES does.”
Now he splits his time between growing pcr and helping in local schools and colleges, motivating young people to think more about business and carving their own career path. Nick was, until last year, a business advisor for YES’s Company Programme, giving up his time to ‘pay it forward’. He is also involved in inspiring the next generation of young entrepreneurs by speaking at Bridge 2 Business events in colleges across Glasgow.
CEO of YES, Geoff Leask, commented “Nick is a young entrepreneur who embodies the values of Young Enterprise Scotland (YES). It is therefore a perfect fit that YES and pcr have joined forces with pcr providing our technology support. It is vital to know that the work we are doing is making a real difference, Nick and pcr are a great example that demonstrate that taking the time to inspire young budding entrepreneurs really does pay off, providing not only a high quality service in their business but employment opportunities for others.”
